News From Susan

I thought it was about time I posted something on the site and it’s going to be a little of this and a little of that.

Coaching and Mentoring Service
First piece of business, my coaching and mentoring service is now up and running. If you’re struggling to get started on writing a novel or have one that keeps getting rejected, I’d love to help you get back on track. I offer critiques on synopsis, partial and full manuscripts, even short stories and articles if you’re a non-fiction writer. I also offer one on one coaching and mentoring via Skype or e-mail. You can reach me at

I also have a newsletter that you can sign up for on the landing page of the site. Each month you’ll find tips on writing, my teaching schedule, and discounts/specials for my critiquing service.

New Gig
I have a new gig over at Coffeetime Romance. It’s called The Writer’s Room and on the first Friday of each month I’ll be posting an article about some aspect of writing.

Not really writing related but I created two new classes over at Skillshare. One focuses on public relations…many of you know I worked in PR and was publicist before I became a writer.
The other class of focuses on time management and productivity.
Here are links to both of them…and I will be creating more writing classes there very soon!

Great Site for Authors
Many years ago I had the pleasure of interviewing mystery/suspense author Hank Phillippi Ryan and I love receiving her newsletter with all her latest news. I was happy to see she and some other authors have created a site with lots of great information for authors so be sure to check it out-

And finally…
One of my students is part of a critique group which is for published women writers and they’re currently looking for new members so if you’re published and been looking to get some feedback on your work, check out this link and contact Joyce.

Happy writing.

September Workshops and A New Gig

Summer’s slowing winding down and before you know it NaNoWriMo will be here. If you’re thinking of taking part and want to get some ideas about how to meet your goals then check out my Getting Ready for NaNoWriMo class at the Outreach Chapter of RWA.

Thinking about writing a short story? I’m also teaching a class for Outreach on that topic.
Here’s link if you want to know more or would like to sign up.

Online Workshops

And for all you aspiring writers and maybe a few more established authors who need a gentle nudge to get more productive, beginning this Friday and then every first Friday of every month, step inside the Writer’s Room over at Coffeetime Romance. I’ll be writing a post about something writing related, tips, hints, you name it. This week’s focus… getting your writing schedule on course.

I’m in the process of setting up a monthly newsletter filled with writing tips and news so stay tuned for details about how you can sign up to receive it.
