No More Rejections…

No More Rejections…

Sorry, not for us.

A short sentence like the above on your returned manuscript is if nothing else better than a standard rejection and a step in the right direction. However, it’s not enough to offer insight into what you’re doing wrong and why that (or so you thought), perfect story keeps getting rejected.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if editors gave us some feedback into what we’re doing wrong?

The chances are that’s not going to happen but all is not lost.

Next month, I’m teaching a new class called Rejection Guaranteed.

We’ll go through all the common reasons for editors rejecting a manuscript and what you can do to turn these mistakes into a polished manuscript that ups the odds of a yes instead of a no.

It’s a four week class, the lessons arrive in your inbox so you don’t need to be present at any day or time.

Here’s the link for more details and how to sign up.

Hope to ‘see’ you in class.

Hello fellow authors and self-publishers.

I probably don’t have to tell you that more books are being published than ever before.

That’s both a good and bad thing.

The good thing is anyone can get published now and the bad thing is you’re now competing with authors around the world.

One of the biggest struggles of an author be it someone who is published with a big company or a self-publisher, is getting the attention of readers. AKA buyers.

Some of my students have told me that the writing is the easy part but the marketing side of the business, is tough and many are clueless as to what works and what doesn’t.

I’m excited to share with you with online event that I think can help with the marketing side of your author business.

Here are all the details-

Book Profits Accelerator LIVE!

This is a 3-day live virtual event where Infostack co-founders Tom and Cary, plus some world-class expert guest speakers, will give you a step-by-step blueprint to:

Stand out in a crowded market with a captivating author brand so that you’ll be discoverable, memorable, and most of all — referrable

Increase success by using up-to-date marketing techniques that get your book into the hands of hungry new readers, predictably

10x book sales without having to become a full-time Tik-Toker or having to shamelessly huck your books to friends and family

Grow your revenue faster that on your own

Avoid burnout with scalable systems

So whether you’re trying to ‘crack the code’ to finding hungry readers…

Or you’re already getting sales but you’re hungry to take it to the next level…

Or anything in between, we’ve got you covered.

Now, this live event is NOT one-size-fits-all.

Think of it like this.

Tom and Cary will give you a set of powerful tools for you to solve whatever puzzle you’ll encounter in your author business.

So many gurus are trying to make you run Amazon ads… dance on social media, follow their “proven systems”…

But these gurus are making everything HARDER than it needs to be!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen something this transformative.

That’s why we want you and your author business to be part of it.

Just imagine – after 3 days of getting exclusive tools, systems and actionable strategies – you’ll know exactly how to optimize, strategize, and maximize a profitable author business in 2023, and all while doing LESS…

Wouldn’t that be amazing?

If that sounds like what you need, head to this page and read more about why after this event your author business will never be the same again.

Right now the price is $147 but it will go up to $247 on Friday April 14th so if you think this is for you, I’d sign up now because who doesn’t love saving money.

Here’s the link with more details and the sign up form. And yes, this is my affiliate one and I will be compensated (but at no extra cost to you), if you enroll in the event.

Have you thought about writing a romance novel?

Have you thought about writing a romance novel?

Romance novels…

They are one of the best-selling genres, readers usually buy more than one book at a time…being a romance author is almost like being part of recession proof business.

They’re fun to write, but the downside is it’s a competitive genre and you have to include certain elements in order to write a great one that readers will love…and editors will want to buy.

I’ve just revamped my Writing Your First Romance Novel Workshop.

It’s a 12 lesson, self-paced class that you can read and do assignments any time you want. It’ never expires so you can use it for your current novel or future ones too.

Here’s a link to all the details and how you can get your own copy of Writing Your First Romance.

Have you ever thought about writing a continuing series?

Have you ever thought about writing a continuing series?

Harry Potter, Twilight, Cedar Cover, Bosch, A is for Alibi…

What do all these have in common?

They’re series books. Recurring characters, themes, settings, etc.

They fun to write, readers love them which can mean a continual stream of income for an author.

If you know my work, you know I love creating series. I’ve lost count how many I have and I’ve recently updated both the Writing Continuing Series workshop and workbook.

They are also newly uploaded to my platform on Thrivecart for easy ordering, checkout, and delivery to you.

The workshop is self-paced, so you can read the lessons whenever you want, practice the assignments whenever you want. Use it for your current project or future ones.

The workbook is a perfect supplement to the workshop but some of you might like to use it without taking the workshop so that’s why I decided to sell them separately. However, if you click the link for the workshop, you’ll get a special offer with a discount for the workbook if you buy it along with the workshop.

Plotting Your Novel Workbook

Plotting Your Novel Workbook

I’m finally switching over all the products in the store to Thrivecart. The first product I have is my Plotting Your Novel Workbook.

If you struggle to plot your stories and need some help without taking a class, this is for you. I walk you through the whole process and ask questions about your story and then show you how to outline and then use all the information to work on your plot outline. The old format was a pdf. but I decided to swich to a Word document so you can print it out and write on it for even easier plotting and planning. Best thing is you can use it over and over again.

Follow this link for all the details and to purchase the workbook-

One thing I love about Thrivecart is they allow me to offer affiliate links so if you want to sign up here’s the link.

New Year, New and Updated Classes

New Year, New and Updated Classes

A happy 2023 to you. I hope it’s already off to a great start and may this year be filled with success.

What am I planning?

I’ll be adding new classes and updated the old ones. I’ll be changing over to Thrivecart too because I feel it will be a better way to deliver the classes to you.

I also purchased an app that will allow me to create a private writing community for my private writing students so they can connect with me, ask questions, and also connect with their fellow writers too.

Over at This Writer’s Life, I’m opening up the Wednesday Guest Bloggers spot again. If you’re interested in being a guest blogger this year, here’s the sign up form. After you sign up e-mail me at and I’ll send you the questions for the blog post.

And remember me mentioning Selfpublishpreneur? It was a project I started but I got too distracted with other projects so it got pushed aside. One of my goals for this year is to move forward with it and I’m kicking things off with Shameless Self Promotion Fridays where each week an author can promote a book.

If you’re interest in that, here’s the post with the sign up form. And if you have any questions for that site you can reach me at

I’ll also be launching the This Writer’s Life podcast in the coming months so stay turned. I just got a new logo made for it and here it is.

If you have any questions about classes or coaching reach out to me at .

Happy Holidays

I’ll be switching formats for the self-paced classes early in 2023 which I think you’ll find easier to access.

I’m also going to try and post writing tips a couple of times a week.

If there’s a topic or question you have, feel free to reach out to me at

Thank you for being one of my students and trusting me with your ‘babies’. I really appreciate you all.

Here’s wishing you the best of this holiday season and to your writing success in 2023.

My review (it might surprise you)….

My review (it might surprise you)….

If you’ve been or are a student of mine, then you know I always give it to you straight.

Today is no different.

If you’ve thought about buying Writer’s Craft 4.0, then you’re going to want to read every word of this email…

I’m going to tell you EXACTLY what I think about this bundle of products, and I promise not to hold anything back.

First off, a little background: let’s talk about what Writer’s Craft 4.0 is and what it does for you…

Writer’s Craft 4.0 is a collection of premium products, curated to help creators with their content – from beginning creators just getting started, to experts who want system improvement so they can scale their businesses.

One of the stack’s top contributors really impressed me:

Michael La Ronn is the award-winning, bestselling author of over 80 science fiction & fantasy novels and self-help books for writers.

He runs the popular YouTube channel, Author Level Up, where he publishes weekly advice videos for writers. Author Level Up has over 40,000 subscribers and nearly 2 million lifetime views. It was also voted one of Writer’s Digest Best Websites for Authors in 2022.

Michael has been featured on popular podcasts such as The Creative Penn and The Self-Publishing Formula, and he has been a guest speaker at 20Books Vegas, Inkers Con, and Writer’s Digest conferences, to name a few.

Michael’s book, The Self-Publishing Advice Compendium, packs over 500 practical and concise lessons, that will help you with writing, publishing, and marketing your book.

Micheal’s book stood out to me because of his credentials, but I’ve been through the lineup of partners in this Super Stack, and all of them were impressive.

With so many products in this Super Stack, you might realize they aren’t all for you.

And that’s okay!

The point of this bundle is to give you an “all you can eat buffet” of creative writing tools, training, and resources…

You get to decide where you want to start.

To help you out, here are my suggestions:

Struggling with characters? Start here…

Fixing Your Character and Point of View Problems by Janice Hardy. Solve your character-related issues so that readers fall in love!

Create Compelling Characters by Devlin Blake. Learn how to develop characters readers can’t get enough of. This course shows you how to get to the heart of your character FAST, so you can go back to writing the fun part of your book.

The Essential Fantasy Writing Course by Richie Billing. Create lifelike fantasy characters that feel alive. This one is a MUST if you’re writing fantasy! Otherwise you can safely give it a pass.

A Bitesize Lesson on Crafting Complex Characters by Maame Blue. Write characters that come off the page with these writing exercises, top tips and a book excerpt that demonstrates the lessons.

And yes, a little shameless self-promotion here, a product by yours truly-

Time-starved? You’ll want to focus on these for fast results

Nailed It, Writing a Novel in 30 Days Planner and Workbook by Susan Palmquist. Anytime you want to write a story fast (eg. NaNoWriMo), this should be your go-to workbook.

WriteAway! By Sherry Ward. Go from writer’s block to writer’s flow and complete your manuscript with this game-changing planning system.

Finish Your Novel Faster – How to Gamify Your Writing Life by Greta Boris & Megan Haskell. Build a writing habit, get in the flow, and gamify the process so that your book gets written even if you struggle to find time and stay focused.

The Verdict

As you can see, you don’t need all 36 products in Writer’s Craft 4.0.

There’s an almost overwhelming amount of products in this bundle.

Fortunately, all you need to do is pick one or two to start with — and you can save the rest for later!

Without hesitation, I’d recommend Writer’s Craft 4.0 to any of my students. I only wish something like this had been around when I was a struggling writer.

And for just $49?

It’s a no-brainer.
